Male Alice/Reader three-shot - In a World of Our Own

(Alice Liddell = Alex Liddell) (Queen of Hearts: King of Hearts)

(Every other character's gender that I didn't mention stays the same.)

(Important! By the way Reader-chan. I am officially raising Alice's age up because she is only 7 years old in the book/movie and that's too young for me to work with. So I'm raising it to sixteen and you're going to be Alex's age too so it isn't awkward. Hope you don't mind!)

☕☝----------------------

Alex Liddell and you had been best friends ever since you were practically babies. You grew up together in England and did everything together. You talked, you played, you learned, and went through many life experiences with one another. You two were absolutely attached at the hip, most of the adults even considered you two to be one day get married to each other because you liked each other so much. Alex and you would used to always turn your nose up in disgust about the idea, especially when you were much younger, but nowadays things were changing as you grew up. Feelings that weren't there before were starting to grow in your hearts. When Alex or you was around strange things would start happening to the both of you sometimes, like your faces would grow red and warm, or you would feel this fluttery feeling in the pit of your stomachs. Of course, neither one of you were ready for marriage or old enough but the idea of one day being together like that didn't seem so distasteful as it used to be.

Alex and you were walking through the open meadow by each other with Dinah the kitten running in front of the two of you as she was chasing a white butterfly that fluttered about. You giggled at Dinah as she kept attempting to swat at the butterfly with her paws but she missed each and every time. Alex kept glancing down at you and his own hands, part of him was tempted to grab your own. Your hands were almost touching and Alex kept nearing his hand closer and closer to your own. It wasn't until you started speaking when Alex panicked and quickly brought his hand back to himself."It is such a wonderful day isn't it?" You started to say as you look around yourself at the gorgeous bright blue skies and the colorful flowers that covered the fields of the meadow. Alex nodded his head in agreement and soon fell into thought. You and him kept walking together through the meadow before going to sit down under a large oak tree.

Sitting together, Alex leaned back into the tree while you were cross-legged and staring out into the fields peacefully. Alex was lost in his thoughts as he pondered what it would be like if you and him were in a world unlike the one you existed within. "(Y/n)… What if we lived in a world of our own?" Alex started to say after a few minutes of silence. You stopped watching Dinah chase around butterflies and went to look at Alex curiously with your bright (e/c) eyes.

"What do you mean, Alex?" You asked him with a slightly tilted head.

"I mean what if we lived in a world that isn't like the one we live in? What if we lived in a world of our own where everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't And contrary wise, what is, wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?" He said rather cryptically, it boggled your mind some of the strange things Alex would come up with. You blinked at him a couple of times and shrugged your shoulders unsurely.

"I wouldn't think such a world could exist. It wouldn't make much sense if it did." You replied back to him. He shook his head and smiled at you.

"You never know, it very well could." He said before pulling his arms behind his head as he leaned against the tree. You began fiddling with a dandelion in the grass in front of you as you responded back.

"Such a world would be impossible, Alex!"

"Nothing's impossible, (Y/n)." Alex said determinedly. You sighed and knew there was no sense in trying to talk him out of it. Once, Alex had his mind set on something he usually did it, which got him in a lot of trouble most of the time. Alex was the most curious person you knew, he had such a bizarre way of thinking but it was something you loved about him. You never knew what to expect to come out of that mind of his and into words. Alex kept smiling to himself as he thought about this made-up world in his mind. You plucked the dandelion from the ground and blew on it, making the white bushy seeds blow high into the air where they would take flight through the open winds of the sky. Alex and you went back to be silent as you both reveled in the beauty of the outdoors. You were now petting Dinah on your lap as Alex was still leaning against the tree and lost in his thoughts.

It wasn't until you noticed something move in a white and red blur from your peripheral vision on the right. You turned your head and glanced over from where you saw the movement. There running by a brook in the meadow was a white rabbit but it wasn't your typical white rabbit as it wore a red waistcoat and was carrying a golden pocket watch in it's paw. Your eyes widen as you gasp and quickly begin pushing Alex on the shoulder. "Alex, Alex! Look over there!" You rushingly said to Alex to gain his attention back to you. He broke from his thoughts and looked at you in confusion by your flustered state.

"What is it, (Y/n)?" Alex asked with concern. You point over to to where the white rabbit was running on a trail by the brook. He looks over and his own bright azure colored eyes broaden in shock by what he was viewing. "Is that a white rabbit with a waistcoat and pocket watch?!" He uttered in disbelief. You nodded your head repeatedly and were even more surprised when the rabbit started talking aloud.

"I'm late, I'm late! For a very important date! I've overdue, I'm nearly stew! No time to say good bye hello! I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!" The white rabbit hollered out in a panic as he kept hopping along as swiftly as possible. Alex soon goes to stand up and being as prone to following his instincts, Alex starts chasing after the rabbit. You gasp and watch Alex begin to run off, you go to stand up yourself and chase after Alex who was chasing the rabbit.

"Alex, hold on! Where are you going!? Wait for me!" You called out to Alex who was now fully sprinting after the rabbit. You grabbed the front of your (color) dress and picked up your speed to catch up with Alex who was eagerly determined to nab the rabbit. "Alex! Please hold on for just a moment!" You kept persistently trying to get Alex to stop but he made no notion on doing so.

"Come on, (Y/n)! I'm going to catch that rabbit!" Alex insisted back to you as he yelled over his shoulder at you. You sighed heavily and muttered how tiring it was to put up with Alex's shenanigans all the time. You kept running as fast as you could run, you were running so fast that you were afraid you would trip over something and not be able to stop yourself in time. "I ALMOST GOT HIM!" Alex was just on the rabbit's little round bushy tail but before he could recognize where the rabbit was going. He yelped loudly and began flailing his arms as he was mere inches from falling into a large hole in the ground that was obscured by tall grass. He tried to maintain his balance as he flailed out his arms, "Whooow!"

You were running so fast, you weren't expecting Alex to stop in mid-run. You gasp and try to come to a stop but you accidentally charged right into his back, making Alex reel forwards and finally falling down the large hole in the ground that the white rabbit went down. You then began to lose your balance just as Alex had done, you flail your arms but weren't able to sustain your footing. You tumble into the hole right after Alex. You start screaming at the top of your lungs as you plunge down deep into the rabbit hole at an unsettling speed with Alex. "ALEX! WE'RE FALLING!" You cried out to Alex who was now right next to you as you both went down.

"I KNOW!" He cried back, you tossed yourself over to Alex and clung onto him as you fell. He grabbed onto you and held you close to himself. You buried your face into his chest while thinking this would be the end of the to of you, especially at the speed you two were going down at.

"I don't want to die, Alex! I'm not ready!" Alex kept hugging onto you and didn't dare to let you go. If you both would die at least he got to die with you in his arms. If only, he had a little more time, he could tell you how he felt but now it was over and too late. The two of you kept falling into the abyss until Alex started seeing random household objects begin to float around the two of you. Alex furrowed his brows in confusion as it seemed like you both were slowing down to the point you were floating like a feather, slow and as light as air.

"(Y/n)! Look! We're not falling so fast anymore!" Alex told you, you reopened your eyes and very hesitantly unburied your head from Alex's chest. You pull your head back and look around at the assortment of tables, clocks, chairs, framed pictures, and many other commonplace objects hovering around as you fell down much more slowly than before. Your mouth fell agape as you looked around at the oddities around you.

"How?" You said breathlessly. He shrugged his shoulders but still kept you held close to himself even though you were going down at a gradual pace.

"I-I don't know!" He replied back unsurely. You and him keep looking around in awe until you begin to gently float down to safety into a round cavernous room with various doors on all sides. Landing softly on your feet, Alex still had his arms wrapped securely around your waist while you were still clinging onto him tightly. You soon both notice your awkward position and quickly pull away once you notice you were both on the ground and safe. Each of you were blushing heavily and adverting eyes as you focused your attentions on the room around you. "Curiouser and curiouser…" Alex stated as he looked around in awe. You too were eyeing around at the large room around you.

"Where are we?" You question Alex who only shrugged his shoulders.

"I haven't the slightest idea but we might as well pick a door. Maybe, we can still find that rabbit." Alex said to you as he went up to a random door. You sighed heavily at Alex's persistence to still find the rabbit in such a peculiar place like you were in. You watched as Alex took the door knob and twisted it to open but instead only managed to disturb the door that was apparently alive! Your mouth fell open as Alex stares in wonder at the door that had yelped when he tried to open it. "Why I beg your pardon." Alex apologized to the door that looked back at him.

"That's alright. But you did give me quite a turn." The door chuckled and continued to speak, "Rather good, right? Doorknob.. turn? One good turn deserves another!" The doorknob continued to laugh at his own terrible pun. You tilted your head as you walked up closer to the door.

"Please, uh sir? You see Alex and I were chasing after a white rabbit and fell down a hole. Now we're here.. so uh, if you don't mind." You said as you began to hesitantly reach out to try and open the door. Alex watched as the door gasped as you tried to turn his knob again.

"OW! Hey, stop it! You're much too big fit through me, anyways. It's impassible."

"You mean impossible?" Alex said to the door.

"No, impassible." It replied back. "Nothing's impossible! Why don't you try the table on the side?" It said as it glanced over to the side. You and Alex turn to look over to see that nothing was there.

"What table?" You questioned in confusion. It was just as you said it when a glass table suddenly started flying towards you from seemingly out of nowhere. It landed on the ground and had two identical bottles that had a tag attached. Alex and you walked over to the table and Alex picked up the first bottle that said 'Drink". You picked up the other bottle next to it and read the tag, "Me."

"Drink me?" You said aloud, putting two and two together. Alex was just about to open and chug his drink when you grabbed onto his arm to stop him. "Wait, Alex! This seems rather suspicious. What if it is poison?" Alex made a doubtful look and shrugged carelessly.

"It says drink me. It can't be that harmful!" Alex said before putting the drink to his lips. You tried to slap it out of his hands but it was too late, Alex started drinking the mysterious bottle. You looked at him in concern and hoped the drink was truly harmless. If only, Alex wasn't so reckless. It would be very good advice if he took your own advice for once. You were always the more sensible one out of the two. Alex drank the last drop of the bottle. "Hm, it tastes like cherry tart! No wait, pineapple! No, no custard! Goose turkey…" Alex started saying thoughtfully. You were too busy staring at him with wide eyes as he had literally shrunk in size right before you. You glanced at your bottle nervously and then back at Alex who shrunk some more until he was as tiny as a mouse.

"Alex! You're so small!" You exclaimed in nothing but shock. He gazes down at himself in wonder before turning his head way up to look up at you, who appeared to be like a giant compared to his now small size. You automatically begin chugging your drink as quickly as possible, you tasted an arrange of different flavors before shrinking down to the same size as Alex. He smiles sheepishly at you as you faintly glare at him for doing something so dangerous as drinking bottles of unknown origin. "Don't ever do that again, Alex! That could had been poison!"

"Sorry…" Alex murmured until glancing over at the door that was now accessible to the two of you. "But look we can fit through the door now!" Alex said to keep positive spirits for the both of you. You huff and blow some of your (h/l) (h/c) hair from your face and follow Alex over to the now attainable door that had been much too small for the two of you to fit in before.

"I suppose so. I'm still not sure about this." You say hesitantly as you and Alex ambled on up to the talking door. You were about to grab onto the doorknob until he spoke up and made you pause. He chuckled again, "Oh, I forgot to tell you. I'm locked!" He exclaimed and started laughing like it was the funniest joke he's ever told. You glare at the door while Alex looks crestfallen about it.

"Oh no… What are we going to do now?" Alex says in exasperation. You shrug your shoulders until the door spoke up again.

"Don't fret! Why you do have the key after all!"

"What key?" Alex and you say at the same time in confusion.

"Now, now don't tell me you left it up there!" The door said as he looks up at the glass table. You both look up and see a large golden key that apparently had been there. Now, you swore that key hadn't been there when you were still your normal height. How did it get up there!?

"Oh dear, now what?" You say before sighing heavily. Your question was answered as Alex made a determined expression and pointed at himself.

"I'll get it for you, (Y/n)!" Alex insisted as he ran up to the bottom of the table and started to begin climbing up the side of it. You gasped and placed your hand over your mouth.

"Alex! Do be careful!" You warned him as he kept trying to heave himself up the table. You watched him as he climbed up pretty far before losing his grip and started to slide back. You watch in alarm as he yelps and started falling down the table and all the way to the floor with a small 'oomph'. You run in front of him and hold out your hand, "Are you okay!?"

Alex rubs the back of his head and nods with a sheepish smile coming back, "Yes… Sorry, (Y/n). I couldn't quite make it for you."

"Oh, Alex! It's okay. I'm sure we can find another way!" You replied back to him with some confidence that you would get out of this large room. Alex takes your hand as you pull him back up this feet. He sighs heavily and looks around.

"Whatever will we do to get out of here? It seems like we're trapped forever!"

"Why not try the box? Naturally!" A door suddenly said from the side. You both look over at him and then were completely taken back when you see a tiny golden box on the floor in front of your feet.

"How did that get there?" You questioned skeptically as it seemed like it appeared magically from no where. Alex shrugs and begins to grin as he crouches down in front of the box and begins to pry it open with his fingers. Inside the golden box were different shaped frosted cookies that had the words "Eat me" on them.

"Cookies!" Alex exclaims in excitement as he grabs onto one of the cookies that was shaped like a star. You sigh and grab onto another that was pink and shaped like a heart. "This should be our way out, hopefully." Alex says as he goes to take a bite. This time you don't bother to warn him about it because he was probably right about it being the only way out. You take a bite right after him and begin to chew it. Both of you gasp the second you take a bite as you two start growing bigger and bigger until you were so big you both were squeezed up against each other in the room that used to be large. You have a hard time moving against Alex in this odd predicament. You even had accidentally kicked the door in the face from growing so suddenly.

"This is a rather large predicament." You say unsurely as you look down at the door that now looked incredibly small to you. The door chuckled and spoke up again.

"A little of that went a long way!"

"I don't think it's so funny!" You exclaim at the laughing door and put your hands onto your face as you feel emotional from all that was going on.

"It's okay, (Y/n)! We'll figure a way out, remember?! Don't cry!" Alex said to you worriedly but it was too late. Giant tears started to run down your face, the teardrops poured down onto the floor and flooded the whole room. The room started to fill up with tears until it went up to your knees. Alex watched as the water was high enough to push off the golden key and the bottles that had made you smaller. "(Y/n)! The bottles! Drink it!" Alex told you as he took his own and began to drink it. In the middle of your crying, you finally calmed yourself down enough to stop sobbing hysterically. You couldn't believe what you had caused from just crying a little. You grabbed onto your bottle and took a swig before turning back into a smaller size with Alex. The both of you fell into Alex's bottle that began to float through the ocean of tears. The bottle drifted towards the door that opened his mouth to let the water rush through with you and Alex.

You both gasp as you find yourself on the other side. You and him were in an ocean of what you presumed were your tears in a location that was now outdoors. You floated in the water for awhile being just you and Alex on the open sea. "So there really is such thing as a sea of tears!" Alex says which makes you lightly glare at him. He notices and rubs the back of his head ruefully, "Uh, sorry. Uhm, well I suppose now it is just waiting for us to reach shore." Alex said to you which made you sigh and lean back against the bottle that you both were sitting inside.

"And we're as small as mice. How ever will we return to our normal size?" You tell him with a sad frown. He gulps and shrugs his shoulders.

"I'm not quite sure to be honest. But I can see land not that far out! We will hopefully go with the tide to land!" Alex said with whatever remaining positivity he had left inside. You glanced over where he was pointing and felt some hope stir inside you. Alex and you chatted for a bit about the situation you were now in as you waited for the ocean to take you hopefully to land, which it seemed like it was thankfully doing.

Once you floated to shore, you both were lucky when the bottle tipped over and let the two of you out. You and him step out and onto shore to be in an unfamiliar place. Looking around, you glance over at Alex who seemed focused on something. "What is it, Alex?" You ask him as he keeps staring ahead.

"There's the white rabbit from before! Come on, (Y/n)! Maybe, he knows how to take us home!" Alex says before following his instincts again and rushing forwards after the rabbit that was hopping away off the beach and towards a forest.

"Oh dear, not again…" You say in exasperation before chasing after Alex yet once again. "Wait, Alex!" You called out while on the chase after him and him after the rabbit. Alex raced through the forest of many different trees that all looked alike. You hoped you didn't fall into anymore holes as you felt a moment of deja-vou as you pursed after Alex. You ran past a pink cottage as the rabbit kept running past it. You were breathing heavily and finding yourself losing stamina the more you ran. You kept running until Alex and you found yourselves lost in a patch of tall flowers that were as large as trees compared to your small statures. You couldn't run anymore as you stopped to take a breather. Alex also went to a screeching halt when he lost view of the white rabbit that had gotten away once again.

"Darn it! It got away again…" Alex grumbled to himself before turning to look back at you. You had your hands on your knees as you were taking deep breathes to stabilize yourself. Alex walked over to you and placed a hand on your shoulder, "Are you quite alright, (Y/n)?" He asked you with concern in his big blue eyes. You nodded your head and finally caught your breath as you stood back up to your full height.

"I'm fine, just a bit tuckered out from running so much. How do you ever find the energy to run as you do?" You questioned him. He chuckled and shrugged.

"I'm not quite sure. I'm just determined to catch that irksome rabbit. I will get him, somehow…" Alex said as he took his hand back and went to glance off at the scenery around you and him to see where you now were at. "Seems like we are now lost in a bunch of flowers." You groaned and looked around and were surprised when an array of literal butterflies began flying by. Their wings were made of buttered toast that kept them afloat in the air. "Curiouser and curiouser. What a strange place this is."

"It seems you have gotten the world you were dreaming up for us. A completely impossible world, full of impossible things. That are actually possible because it's happening all around us!" You exclaim while watching the butterflies in wonderment. Alex nodded his head and smiled at you.

"It is a world of our own, (Y/n). A special place for both of us! It is quite extraordinary."

"But however will we go home?"

"I'm not certain but I think getting that rabbit will be our first step in the right direction!" Alex said before gasping when he heard someone clear their throat from behind the both of you. You and Alex turn to see a bunch of flowers that still towered over you but were smaller than the ones that were almost as tall as a tree. "Who made that noise?" Alex questioned aloud as he looks around. You also look around but see no one around except the bunch of various flowers. "Did you make that noise?" Alex asked a red rose.

You rolled your eyes, "Absolute nonsense! Flowers can't talk, Alex!"

"Why of course we can, my dear!" The rose suddenly spoke as it leaned down towards you with a small smile.

"Oh!" you gasped as you gawked at the rose that you could see smiling down upon you.

"Eh, if there is anyone worth talking too." A purple iris said in an old and rather regal tone of voice.

"Or about!" A daisy said in a high-pitched girly voice before starting to giggle.

You and Alex glance at each other in awe of the talking flowers. A patch of colorful pansies that sounded like children began to speak up, "And we sing too!" They said to you and Alex with bright happy smiles.

"You can sing?" You questioned and they all nod their heads.

"Would you like to hear us sing?! A tulip asked you. You shrugged your shoulders and replied back.

"Why not? I never heard flowers sing before… or well talk. But please go ahead." You insisted. The flowers all began babbling back and forth with one another excitedly before the main red rose tapped on a leaf to get their attention.

"We shall sing 'Golden Afternoon!" The rose said before beginning to sing with the other flowers. You couldn't help but smile as they sang like a angelic choir together in perfect harmony. Alex also smiled before extending his hand out to you. You looked at him curiously before shyly taking his hand into your own. Alex grins at you when you take his hand and begins to dance with you as the flowers sing their lovely tune. The flowers sway back and forth as they sing while Alex has your hand held up while he had one hand wrapped around your waist as you danced to the melody. You both spin around and giddily laugh together as more butterflies began to flutter around you as you whirled around together with grace. The song reached your ears as you spun around seeing blurs of rainbows of colors from the different flowers around you. Everything seemed perfect right at that moment as you danced with Alex. The very single boy that you grew up with and the one who had stolen your heart.

"I love dancing with you, (Y/n)!" Alex said to you during the song. You felt a blush tinge your cheeks as he says this to you. You smile back at him and reply back softly.

"I love dancing with you too, Alex." You replied back to him. He glanced down with his own smile and a blush of his own. The two of you continue to slow dance together until the song came to an end. You started to clap along with Alex to the red rose who took a bow. "Oh, that was lovely! I didn't know flowers could sing so beautifully!" You told the rose who smiled back you for the compliment.

"What kind of garden do the two of you come from?" The daisy suddenly asked which caught the attention of Alex and you. You and him glance at each other awkwardly before Alex begins to speak up.

"Why we don't come from any garden!" He explains to them. The flowers all gasp in shock by what he said which makes you want to face palm. How did Alex always manage to find trouble or did it find him? You weren't too sure.

"Do you think they are both wild flowers!?" The daisy exclaims as she looks over at the iris in distress.

The rose leans back in and places a leaf that acted as her hand onto your back. "Just what species are you, darling. Or should I say genus?" The rose asked you. You looked quizzically at Alex as to what to say as you had a feeling they weren't going to be happy with what you truly were. Alex, of course, jumped in and spoke up for you instead.

"Well, you could call us Alex and (Y/n)!" Alex said which made you look over at him worriedly from what he said. The daisy tilts her head in confusion.

"Have you ever heard of a genus like those before?" She asked aloud to the iris who replied back.

"Have you ever heard of a Alex or (Y/n)?" The iris said questionably. The daisy leans in and grabs onto the side of your dress and examines it closely.

"What a peculiar color of pedals!"

The iris nods agreeably and grabs onto your hair and leans in and sniffs you while the daisy was now examining Alex's clothes unsure of what genus he was. "And no fragrance!" The iris said distastefully at your lack of flowery scent. You now wished you would had wore your perfume before you came to this odd world, you had a feeling this wasn't going to end up well. The flowers kept picking on you and making fun of how you looked. Alex frowned at them and spoke up defensively.

"(Y/n) is not a flower! I'm not either! So leave her and I alone!" Alex asserted in each of your defense. The flowers leaned away from you and glared over at Alex.

"I knew it!" The iris exclaimed "It's just what I suspected!" The iris then leaned into to whisper something to the rose. You look suspiciously at them as them as they whisper amongst one another. The other flowers could hear what they said before all crying out, "Oh no!"

"What did you say?" You asked the iris that leaned in towards you with a glare of her own.

"To put it bluntly, you're both weeds!" She accused you which made you frown and cross your arms. Alex looked offended as he also glared back at the iris that called you both weeds.

"We're not weeds!" The flowers didn't seem to believe it as they all began pushing and shoving you and Alex away from them. You gasped and almost fell to the ground from how hard they were shoving you around. Alex glares them for pushing you around but only almost falls himself when they also knocked him away.

"We don't want weeds in our bed!" The group of pansies say as they shove you when you fall into their bed. Alex reaches out and grabs onto your hand to keep you two from splitting apart. The flowers all begin to start yelling and shouting at you two as they wanted you gone from their presence. Alex and you take no time to start leaving the area of vicious flowers that thought you to be weeds.

"Stupid flowers! If I were my right size I would pluck them all from where they are!" Alex asserts with a glare in the direction you both ran away from. You sigh heavily and begin walking in an aimless direction. "Are you quite alright, (Y/n)? Those flowers had no manners whatsoever!" Alex says to you. You have your head lowered and appeared downcast as you trudged on through the forest of large flowers with Alex. "(Y/n)?"

You pause and look back at him with a sad frown on your lips with glassy eyes that wanted to outburst with tears. "I-I'm fine, Alex. L-let's just keep g-going." You said to him while trying not to let your voice crack the sadness you were feeling. Alex sped walked over to your side and grabbed your hand and looked at you with concern in those bright baby blue eyes of his.

"You're not okay, you're crying… Don't listen to what those dumb flowers said. If you were a flower you would put them all to shame. I mean- y-you're very pretty, (Y/n). Prettier than those flowers." Alex's cheeks burned and ears burned with a blush as he uttered those words to you. You too blushed and glanced away from his eyes timidly.

"T-thank you, Alex." You said and tried rubbing at your eyes with your free hand that wasn't holding Alex's hand. Alex leans in and places a soft gentle kiss onto your cheek before shying away. You looked back at him as he was now the one to veer his eyes away from your own. You blushed a bright pink and felt your heart pick up in pace the moment he had kissed you.

"You're welcome, (Y/n). Let's keep going. I'm sure we'll find a way home somehow." Alex squeezed your hand reassuringly before leading your forwards with your hands intertwined with one another. You tried not to let a smile appear on your blushing face as you progressed forward in the flower-made forest together. Walking for a couple of minutes in silence, you and him begin to notice something odd within the sky. It appeared to look like colorful smoke in shapes of letters of the alphabet that waffled on by.

"Look at that, (Y/n)! I wonder where it leads too? Let's follow the trail!" Alex exclaims excitedly. You nod your head and soon the both of you keep following the smoke clouds from above until you heard the strangest sound that sounded like singing. You and Alex glance at each other before progressing forwards past a bunch of shrubs.

"A, E, I, O, U~" The person singing the song sang. You and Alex finally get closer enough to see who was singing their vowels. Your eyes widen as you see a bunch of different sized mushrooms but the most peculiar sight was the blue caterpillar that was smoking a hookah on one of them. Walking towards him, the two of you slip in front of the mushroom he was on and look up at him.

"Um, hello there?" You spoke up to get the attention of the caterpillar who was coming to end to his song of vowels. He leaned back on his mushroom and breathed out colorful smoke into the air. Alex and you crawled up on a smaller mushroom to get a better look at him. "Excuse me, sir." You bring up again until he finally opens his eyes and looks at Alex and you.

"Who. Are. You…?" He spoke each word with a letter of smoke billowing from his mouth each time he spoke a word.

Alex shrugged and began speaking, "I hardly know anymore, sir. I changed so many times since this morning, you see." Alex said while glancing at you once, "Do you even know?"

You quirked an eyebrow at him before deciding to play along, "I have not an idea. We're not ourselves, it seems." You said back before looking back at the caterpillar.

"I do not see. Explain yourselves." He commanded the two of you.

"I'm afraid we cannot explain ourselves because we're not ourselves, you know?" Alex told the caterpillar as he watched the different letters of smoke draft over and around his head.

"I do not know." The caterpillar stated.

"Well, I cannot put it anymore clearly. It isn't even clear to me or her." Alex replied to the caterpillar. You were wondering why Alex felt this way. Did he truly not even know himself anymore? You knew he was Alex but knowing Alex he had quite a different perception on things than the normal person. Perhaps, you should remind him who he is so he doesn't feel so much unlike himself. You still knew you were (Y/n) but a place like this could possibly make one wonder if they truly are who they think they are when everything seems to be the opposite of what it truly should be. It genuinely was a curious world full of enigmas and paradoxes that one could not even begin to fathom. Except, maybe, Alex…

"You… Who. Are. You?" The caterpillar asked once again with the smoky letters pouring from his mouth and into your faces. You coughed a bit while Alex was the one to respond once again.

"Well, don't you think you ought' to tell me who you are first?"  He asked the caterpillar who was now leaning back again with his eyes closed as he took another puff from his hookah.

"Why?"

You shook your head while feeling slightly irritated by the caterpillar not just saying who he was. "Why must everything in this world be so terribly confusing? Why can't something just make sense for once?" You said as you sat down on your knees and sighed. Alex glanced down at you thoughtfully and was thinking of something to say next but was too late as the caterpillar spoke up first.

"It is not confusing." The caterpillar said as he inched his way up on his mushroom to edge closer towards the both of you.

"Well, it is to me!" You exclaim in annoyance.

"Why?" He simply asked.

"Well, everything we've encountered so far has not made much of any sense whatsoever from rabbits running late, talking doorknobs, seas of tears, to singing flowers, and then finally you. You don't make much sense either but the longer I'm here the more I'm just becoming accepting of it. Oh, I do wish there was a way back home from this strange world." You say to the caterpillar who was resting on the edge and listening to you. Alex glanced at you and frowned sadly as he too had no idea how to get back home. "Do you know a way out of this place, Mr. Caterpillar? I do want to go back home." You said to him. He frowned at you and blew some more smoke in your face on purpose before replying back.

"Who. are. you!?" He said much more rudely than before. You were too busy in a coughing fit to reply back from his smoky letters that flew right into your face again. Alex jumped in and heatedly glared the caterpillar.

"Stop doing that to her! She had met enough of you ill-mannered people! She and I are leaving!" Alex grabs onto your hand tightly and with a dignified turn of his head from the caterpillar, he began walking you away from him. The caterpillar started to watch you both leave before calling out to the two of you as you ambled on away from him.

"You two! Girl and boy! Wait! Come back! I have something important to say!" He called out but Alex had quite enough of him and decided not to return back.

"Should've we waited to see what he had to say?" You asked Alex who shook his head while still holding hand as you and him trekked through the seemingly endless forest of various florae.

"I doubt he had anything worth saying to us. He's just a mean ol' bully." Alex replied to you as he scoffed back at the thought of the rude caterpillar who kept blowing smoke into your faces. You weren't too sure if you should have walked off, maybe he knew the way home? You decided to trust Alex on this one as you and him kept going aimlessly through the forest in hopes to find something else of interest, hopefully a way back home. For what felt like hours you went through the thickness of the forest until coming back out into and opening and finding you were back at the caterpillar's mushroom. "Oh darn, this is not what I intended." Alex said as he looked irritably back at the caterpillar who was just laying there smoking his hookah like nothing had happened.

You let go of Alex's hand and step forward towards the caterpillar this time and go to speak up again to him. "Well? What do you have to say?" You asked crossly to the caterpillar who reopened his eyes to look back at you and Alex.

"Tell your friend to keep his temper in check." The caterpillar said as he glanced over at Alex who was fuming on the sidelines. You sigh and shake your head in frustration.

"Is that all you had to say to us?" You assert.

"No." He replied back as he crawled back over to the edge of the mushroom to speak. "Exactly, what is your problem?"

You glance as Alex who has his arms crossed and still glaring at the caterpillar. You decided to tell the caterpillar your problem, just maybe he would lead you in the right direction. "Well, first off… You see I would like to be a big larger, sir. Back to my normal height." You said to him.

"Why?" He asked which made your temper swell up again. You tried to bite your tongue from saying anything nasty back to him as you really wanted to pry any information you could get out of the vexing caterpillar.

"Well, three inches tall is rather a wretched height."

"I AM 7 INCHES TALL!" He yelled back in your face before curling up into a cocoon out of pure outrage. You gawked at him in shock that he yelled at you and glanced over at Alex with wide eyes. He shrugged his shoulders and the both of you looked back to see that he was missing. That was until you heard his voice overhead. You and him look up to see a bright blue butterfly that had been the caterpillar. "By the way! I have a few more helpful hints! One side will make you grow taller and the other side will make you grow shorter!" He said before flying off.

"Side of what!?" You yelled back but it was too late. He was already long gone. Your shoulders slumped down and you sighed as you looked back at Alex who was standing there with his arms crossed. "I have no idea what side he is talking about…" You told Alex who uncrosses his arms and begins to snoop around. You were about to look around with Alex that was until the butterfly flies back in your face and shouts ridiculously loud.

"THE MUSHROOM, OF COURSE!" He flew off before you could say anything as you filched away from his shouting.

"What a rude caterpillar- or well butterfly." You stated as you and Alex turn to look at the many mushrooms that were around the clearing you were in. "Well, better start looking for the right side of the mushroom. Which ever side that is…

Alex reached out and grabs two sides of the mushroom and begins looking back and forth between the two pieces. "So it looks like one side will make us grow smaller, while the other side will make us grow bigger. Which side should we try?" Alex asked you as he kept looking back and forth between the two pieces of mushroom. You bit your lip and weren't positive. You certainly didn't want to get any smaller or you might be microscopic and you hoped when you ate the one that made you taller that it wouldn't make you as large as a house. "Let's do this one… No, this one!" Alex said as he took a bite of one before handing it over to you. You sigh from having to do this again, taking the piece, you bite into it on the edge and wait for something to happen.

"I'm so ready to be back to my normal height." You said to Alex who nodded back in agreement.

"Me too!" He said before gasping when he suddenly started growing. You watched in shock as he grew larger, which in case you followed not shortly after. You and him started growing and growing until you were so tall you were literal giants! "Oh no! We grew too much!" Alex exclaimed to you as both of your heads were towering over the forest. You rolled your eyes in annoyance and snatched the other piece of the mushroom from Alex's hand.

"Looks like we're going to have to try this again. Hopefully, it doesn't make us three inches high again!" Taking a bite out of the mushroom, you quickly hand it back over to Alex before you start shrinking. He smiles sheepishly at you before taking a bite of his own and soon the two of you began shrinking back down to three inches high. "Oh my goodness! I have had quite enough of this terrible game!" Grabbing the piece of mushroom back you take the very smallest nibble possible with your teeth and hand it back over to Alex who does the same. You soon rise up and thankfully are back to your normal height. "There we go!" You exclaim happily as you look down at yourself. Alex too look down at himself before looking over at you.

"No more eating strange things." Alex vowed which you quickly nodded to in agreement.

"Now that's some good advice!" You reply before looking back onto the path that went on into the distance of the forest. "I suppose, we're back to walking."

"Seems so…" Alex said before reaching out and taking your hand again into his own. He smiles at you and gestures with his head to get going, "Let's keep moving! I think we're getting the hang of this place!" Alex stated with some renewed positivity now that you both were back to your average heights. You nodded and smiled sweetly back at him.

"Let's keep going then. Come on, Alex!"

"Is that who I am?"

"Oh dear, Alex… Let's just keep going." You say in exasperation, as you yank his hand and begin to start walking along with him down the dirt path that lead to who knows where.

Bullet; Blue Welcome to my story~! I hope you had a good time reading it if you had! I worked pretty hard on this one but was really lucky to get into a flow that helped me tremendously to write. I used dialogue from the movie and the book, so I hope that's okay. I liked how this one came out so I hope the 2nd part comes out just as well. It will be our conclusion to this little 3-shot of mine~!

Also if you have an idea for a request please PM but make sure you have an idea as it is so much easier for me if you do. I won't always accept but I usually try my best attempts at trying to write it for you. :thanks:
